In April, we went to Walt Disney World, getting more use out of the annual passes we’d bought the previous fall. People rightly say the Disney park experience has gotten more expensive and less relaxed in recent years. That said, I still appreciate the attention to detail Disney puts into things. For instance, these seats in the Carousel of Progress. When they refurbished the theater, they could have used off the shelf seats; that would have been cheaper and probably faster. But they did multiple colors with what I imagine is a custom print on the seat backs, with a star print that’s a nod to the space themes in Tomorrowland.
In May, we went to a family wedding in Texas, which rightly got the shot of the day in my photo diary. This sunset I saw from the parking lot of the venue deserves to be seen, too. Is a parking lot beautiful? No. But I did see beauty from it.
I’ve enjoyed the view of the mountains across the valley from our dining room in our condo. Sometimes that view also includes small parades of construction vehicles, like this pickup towing a Genie lift in June. I won’t miss the construction traffic, but I will miss the mountains and the sky from this vantage point.
