Monday, November 10: Take your beauty when you can, like this sunset from the parking lot of the strip mall where Mr. Karen and I went to dinner after retrieving a bunch of our mail from the post office. Our mail shouldn’t have been at the post office but our vacation hold got mixed up. It happens.
Tuesday, November 11: Over the past several months, Mr. Karen and I have been talking about phase two of our retirement. We’ve been skiing and snowshoeing and hiking less, and the mountain resort is changing with the new ownership, and the insurance climate has gotten very challenging for a property like ours. To cut to the chase, we decided to list our condo for sale this winter, which for a ski resort is the prime time for potential buyers to be poking around. Thus, I found myself in the Lowe’s drive through lumberyard, picking up a large order of boxes so we can start packing stuff up for storage and getting our place decluttered and depersonalized.
Wednesday, November 12: The Mickey balloons are still floating about, sometimes together. Please note we have not decluttered the mantel yet.
Thursday, November 13: This is my life now: stacks of boxes, waiting to be taped and filled and moved out.
Friday, November 14: New Coke flavor spotted on my way to Vancouver, Washington with a friend for the weekend: Holiday Creamy Vanilla. I passed on it this time but I will probably grab it at some point.
Saturday, November 15: My friend and I spent the morning and afternoon exploring Vancouver, browsing some interesting shops and a library branch in a mall, going to the farmers’ market and the main library and its top floor deck (my friend was a librarian for a while), then relaxing for a bit before our mutual friend got off work. We had conveyor belt sushi and hung out all evening with them.
Sunday, November 16: My friend and I hung out with our mutual friend (I got to hold their tiny little dog for a long while which I was so happy about) then went for pizza (where we saw this mural) before dropping them off at their home before driving back to our homes. A quick trip but a good one.
