A Week in Photos: 2026, Part 20
June 4, 2026
Monday, May 11: The menagerie of dog toys found around the property continues to expand. We’re up to five now, including a set of twins. (There were only two animals about a month ago.)
Tuesday, May 12: Mr. Karen used his skills to make what we’re calling a “fan door”, which will let us draw cool air into the main guest bedroom on summer nights. It’s even portable, so we can move it to a different bedroom if a guest prefers to sleep on the other end of the hallway.
Wednesday, May 13: The hostas out front are looking healthy, though the stripey ones have been slower to emerge.
Thursday, May 14: Mr. Karen and I went to a lemon-themed dinner party at Kathy’s house.
Friday, May 15: There are two very small ponds on the property. I knew there were plenty of frogs in them, as we can hear them up at the house at night. I did not know that there were also irises down there, as those can’t be seen from the house or the driveway. Doing some research, it appears these might be yellow flag irises which are an invasive species in my part of the world. That’s a bummer.
Saturday, May 16: Mr. Karen and I went to dinner on the water with Kathy and Kent. The seagulls were interested in the leftovers on the outdoor tables.
Sunday, May 17: Rather than waiting for more of our furniture to get moved out of storage or for a closet re-do we might not get to for a while, I used empty boxes to organize my clothes in the primary bedroom closet.
