A Week in Photos: 2026, Part 39

September 30, 2026

Monday, September 21: Beautiful day for a walk along the harbor. I thought these happy spots of color in the bushes along the shore were cherry tomatoes from a distance (lot of restaurants along the harbor so it wasn’t that big a stretch to think there was some “harborside to table” stuff going on) but they’re rose hips.

View of a bay from shore, with bushes with small reddish fruits on them along the path.

Tuesday, September 22: Trekked to IKEA to get ideas for the house, including looking for some bedside lamps, which are in short supply in our household after a decade living in a place where the bedrooms were too small for bedside tables. Did find some lamps but did not buy any bags, yellow or blue.

Display for bags at IKEA that reads: Like the yellow bag? Buy a blue one.

Wednesday, September 23: Grey rainy day, which is the weather I expected to see more of when we moved here (and I’m told more of it is coming). Did clear up enough later for me to go pick some of the late ripening blackberries and some more apples (some of them are wormy so I don’t just bite into them).

Thursday, September 24: Went to see my new doctor for the first time, selected on the basis of a) she’s in my insurance and b) I liked her biography. The good news is I like her a lot. The bad news is it’s hard to get in to see her due to demand. Took this photo in a nearby parking lot where I turned around after getting just a tiny bit lost in the office park where her office is.

Tree with some orange leaves and some green behind some flowers growing up at its base.

Friday, September 25: Took a jaunt up to Vancouver, BC. Once there, accidentally ended up alongside a convoy of dump trucks protesting high fuel costs by burning fuel driving through the city. Had a nice lunch, browsed some shops, and was disappointed in what I’d hope would be a small charming museum that turned out to be a single back room in a store with a few displays that lacked explanatory cards for what I was looking at. Ah well, at least the location led me to find the lunch place where I had some very good poutine.

City street filled with traffic. A dump truck with a banner hung from its side is in a line of other dump trucks.

Saturday, September 26: Not a big day for taking pictures, but I do have this screenshot to share from the picture puzzle game. For ones I’m having difficulty with, I take screenshots before time runs out so I can study them and get clear about what goes where so I can be more efficient the next time.

Screenshot from app showing mixed up squares of a drawing with some assembled correctly.

Sunday, September 27: Cheers me up to have flowers now and again. Haven’t found/unpacked the vases yet, so these supermarket specials got a souvenir cup from T-Mobile Park as their container.
