It’s been a few weeks since my previous Happy Color update, so it’s time to share what I’ve been up to coloring-wise. The featured image this time is one I decided to color after seeing it posted in a Facebook group.
Groups I’ve finished since the previous update (most recent listed first; all counts include any friends I matched with the main images for the group):
– Water lilies mosaics (2) [one is an award bonus]
– Mother’s Day (26)
– Classy category pics (12) [some award bonuses, some from regular category as I still have another award level to earn]
– Popular category pics (4) [working on popular award and paired with award bonuses]
– Portraits of women mosaic-style (2) [one was award bonus, the other just a bonus bonus]
– Rug-like mandalas (12) [some were long-time separators]
– Pics of week and month for April (10)
– Cinco de Mayo (4)
– Dailies for last part of April/first part of May (14) [I’ve decided to take a break from mysteries for a while, as those are so detailed and take a while to do and they’re starting to feel like work]
– Detailed mandalas (6) [used as separators, two of these are embroidery-like]
– Fantasy award bonuses (4) [witchy stuff and unicorns]
– Metal flowers (2) [including one shown above]
– May Day (2) [the spring one, not the protest one]
– Various award bonuses—fruit, cakes with flowers, spooky mansions, crescent moons, owls (10)
– Dailies and mysteries for third full week of April (18)
– Round paisley patterns (2) [used as separators]
– Tattoo award bonuses (30) [the designs on people, mostly]
– Holidays—Anzac Day, World Book Day, World Penguin Day, King’s Day, International Dance Day (14)
– Tattoo award bonuses (14) [the designs themselves, not tattoos on people]
– Earth Day (6)
Currently In Progress:
1.) International Day of Families (8 images plus two separators) [I may finish these by the end of today, the actual holiday, but probably not; separators are patterns with wheel-like designs in them]
2.) Mostly mosaics (36 + 4) [separators: op art style mandalas]
3.) Dailies for first full week of May (10 + 2) [separators: patterns with box-like angles and shapes]
4.) Pictures of the week for May so far (4 + 18) [separators: all the rest of them, so 2 distorted grid patterns, 4 patterns with pyramid shapes, 2 mandalas featuring watches, 4 mandalas featuring overlapping/partial patterns, 6 mandalas with lots of detail]
How Things Are Going Overall:
As mentioned above, I’ve decided to stop doing images from the Mystery category for now. It’s been a couple weeks since I made that change to my Happy Color routine, and I’m feeling no regrets. I’m using the time I’m not spending doing the mysteries to work on bonus award images I’ve already gotten (as mentioned last time) and to work toward getting the awards I haven’t yet earned. I’m annoyed that I’ll never be able to complete the Superheroes award because that category went away some time ago. For the categories I can complete, I’m closest on Mosaic and Marine, the least close on Art and Collections.
Also as mentioned above, I found the featured picture through a Facebook group. It wasn’t one I’d joined but one pushed into my feed by the algorithm, a fan group where someone was asking where to find that image to color which they’d seen in someone else’s post (why they did not ask in that post was not made clear). Since I like to think I’m good at finding things on computers, I looked at the image and decided “metal flowers” was a good search term to use in the app and boom there is was only a few images down the results. I posted that as a reply to the seeking post and joined the group. I may not stay in the group, as it’s a lot of noise from people I don’t know, but there have been a couple posts that were interesting, like the one about the app taking up too much storage on someone’s phone (hello, yes, I have experienced this), where someone in the comments couldn’t understand how that could happen because on her device it stayed fairly constant even though she colors a lot. That led me to check my storage, and surprisingly, Happy Color is taking up less than 3 gig now, so maybe they changed how storage is managed with a recent app update or maybe I’m just not coloring as much as I was went it got up over 14 gig before I deleted and reinstalled a couple/few months ago.
