A Week in Photos: 2025, Part 39
October 9, 2025
Monday, September 22: My impulse purchase arrived: a t-shirt with proceeds to charity produced by the Corner Tap in Cubs pictcher Colin Rea’s Iowa hometown, inspired by the Cubs’ announcers Boog Sciambi and Jim Deshaies riffing on the Corner Tap’s offer of free drinks for every two strikeouts Rea makes in his Wrigley Field starts. A batter facing Rae was known for hitting into double plays, and Boog & JD said if he did it this time, they’d buy mozzarella sticks for the folks at the bar. He did, and they did (though they had to get cheese break from the restaurant next door, as the bar doesn’t do mozz sticks).
Tuesday, September 23: The time has come to unbox my new laptop, which has been waiting patiently for my attention since I bought it two and a half weeks ago.
Wednesday, September 24: Had lunch with a friend and got this fancy mango lassi.
Thursday, September 25: Went down to the city. Coming home, I got stopped by a train at the base of the mountain road. I was somewhat alarmed when the crossing gate went up while the train was still there. It did come back down, then repeated that more than once while I was waiting.
Friday, September 26: I was very tempted by this updated Lite Brite I saw at Costco, since I loved the original toy when I was little, but I resisted. I’m not sure it would be as satisfying without punching the pointy pegs through the paper.
Saturday, September 27: Started several pictures in the Happy Color app for World Tourism Day.
Sunday, September 28: Public art at an intersection in Spokane.
