A Week in Photos: 2026, Part 33

August 19, 2026

Monday, August 10: Pour one out for my white and grey Copperfit grippy sock with the orange accents, as its mate was lost in the wash. How, I do not know. I have put it on the list in my phone titled “Lost”, which I often get to update later with where I found whatever it is I lost/misplaced, but so far as of this writing a week later, it has not turned up. Could it still be hiding in another piece of clean laundry that got put away? Maybe. I’ll keep this solo sock around a while, as I still remember pulling a sock out of the couch cushions once long after I’d thrown its unpaired mate away.

Bottom of a sock laid on a purple and yellow quilt. It's grey with orange gripper dots and an orange stripe can be seen on the white top part that's peeking out on one side.

Tuesday, August 11: I know I shared this lily as a photo of the day just last week, but it’s still very pretty, and what swayed me to use it as my daily subject again was noticing that I managed to catch a spiderweb in the blooms catching the light.

Bright pink lily blooms touched by the sun. A spider has made a web between some petals on the left side and that's catching the light and breeze.

Wednesday, August 12: I made a plum and blackberry crisp, another first for me. It turned out pretty well.

Thursday, August 13: I exercised great self control and did not buy any of these giant axolotl dog toys Mr. Karen and I saw at the supermarket when we were doing our shopping. We still don’t know where all the things are in that store so we wander and this time ended up in the pet supplies area.

Friday, August 14: Went to run an errand with Mr. Karen and we stopped at a dairy store for ice cream on the way home. This location is right next to a park, which is a very pleasant place to eat one’s cone until the train comes by, as it did when we were there.

Saturday, August 15: Left home for an overnight trip that involved getting brave and meeting new people. My introvert self did skip the group dinner and instead went to conveyor belt sushi in the mall by my hotel.

Sunday, August 16: Did a bit more socializing, though not where I expected to; I changed my plans after chatting with someone from Saturday’s events who invited me to a place I hadn’t known about but which seemed relatively safe to do on my own, and it was. But somehow I took no photos, so this screenshot of a Happy Color picture I finished after I got home will have to do.
