Happy Color Update: Mid-August 2026

August 17, 2026

It’s been around a month since my previous Happy Color update, so here I am again, because I am still Happy Color-ing.

I don’t have the mental energy to choose favorites this time, so here is the daily for the first of August. There is a similar picture every month, plus a bonus with the month on it (this month it was a dog going to the beach).

Screenshots from the Happy Color app showing a hot air balloon drifting over a field of sunflowers with the words August Escape included on the image.

Groups I’ve finished since the previous update (most recent listed first; all counts include any friends I matched with the main images for the group):

– Messages: checklists, flowers, makeup, summer treats, hello and welcome, cool words, back to school sale, life, space, camping, slang words, self love, lips, pop art words, home sweet home, opportunity (60) [one was on Popular page, some are bonuses]

– Dailies for first full week of August (14)

– Patterns: hot air balloons (2) [not separators]

– Dailies for last of July/beginning of August (14)

– Messages: Italy, food, cooking, sweets (28)

– Single blooms with line backgrounds (2) [not separators]

– Messages: good morning, breakfast (14)

– Yin/Yang patterns (2) [not separators]

– International Cat Day (2)

– Art: Landscapes (4)

– Messages: get well soon, inspire your heart with art (2)

– Art: outdoor gatherings, artists (4)

– Messages: travel and transportation, girl power, friendship day. music (32)

– Pictures of the week and month for July (10)

– Leaf patterns (4) [had been separators]

– Messages: tea, coffee, leaves, lanterns, inspiration, welcome, joy (22)

– Dailies for third full week of July (14)

– Sports: aerobics/calisthenics, aerial yoga, rhythmic gymnastics (16)

– Mandalas: designs with partial mandalas in them (4)

Currently In Progress:

1.) Dailies for the second full week of August (16 images plus 8 separators) [separators: detailed mandalas and animals with maze patterns]

2.) There is no 2; I’ve only got the above in progress right now

How Things Are Going Overall:

I’ve been keeping my in progress small because any progress will get wiped out when I do the uninstall/reinstall needed for the iOS update I still need to do but haven’t because I haven’t freed up enough space from other apps (messaging is the big problem now, because when friends and family send me photos, I keep them mostly forever, so I’m working on that by going back and saving just the ones that make me feel happy when I see them, which is a lot but not all of them). I was also updating my bonus spreadsheet because I never did finish that after the last reinstall; got annoyed that groups of award images don’t stay in same order (the groups do but not the images in them) and put that project aside. I can do it after the next reinstall if I want to (it would be great if the search feature that didn’t exist when I made the spreadsheet looked at bonuses but it doesn’t unless they’re already in progress; I guess I could just start all the bonuses and then wouldn’t need to search the spreadsheet for images that match what I want to work on).

When I do the reinstall, I’ll get the new version of the app, which I’ve read has taken away the check marks for completed categories. Nonetheless, I’ve gotten on a tear with doing Messages, because I like them: they tend to be simpler than some categories and it’s easy and fun to pair them up (sometimes they re-use a phrase, like “when opportunity fails to knock, build a door”, so that’s fun to find, as is picking up on themes like self-love). That means I haven’t earned any new awards in a while, and that’s okay.

For a while now, I’ve been spending some of my casual gaming time on non-Happy Color apps, since I felt I should do something more challenging at least some of the time. At first that was a game called Block Out that I liked the demo games of that were in the ads on Happy Color (I lost my ad-free version when I switched to an iPhone so now I have to watch ads to get hints), but that got too frustrating after I got to higher levels, so I deleted that app and now am doing one called Jigsaw Block Sort (also from an ad on Happy Color). So far this one is less frustrating. I’ve been meaning to do an entry about this stuff but haven’t gotten to it, and other than this paragraph, today is not the day for it either.
