Monday, June 1: I spent time in the studio packing up stuff from the drawers of furniture we’ll be moving next month while Mr. Karen went to retrieve his sailboat from storage. Went back to the hotel and on our walk to dinner at a favorite restaurant we discovered a house I’d never known was tucked back from the highway. A glimpse of the town that was here before the hotels and big box stores arrived.
Tuesday, June2: Drove home with the sailboat in tow. Got back just after sunset and managed to get the sailboat in the barn, though that wasn’t as easy as we’d hoped since it’s too tall to pull in the door on the end closest to the driveway so had to go around to the other side and back it in, and there’s not much clearance on either side. Got a surprise when we drove up to the house finally: there was a notice from the county that the electrical part of the septic system failed inspection. Ugh.
Wednesday, June 3: While I was gone, Kathy came by and left a purple flamingo.
Thursday, June 4: Enjoying ice spheres again now that I’m home.
Friday, June 5: One of the hosta plants out front is flowering.
Saturday, June 6: Woke up to find we had our first roof leak in the new house. Mr. K went up in the attic to check things out and fortunately it wasn’t something we’ll have to address right away. I drove down to Seattle in the afternoon to meet up with a friend from Spokane who was visiting. We went to an event that required a negative COVID test to get in; hadn’t run into that in quite a while.
Sunday, June 7: Sat out on the deck with Mr. Karen to enjoy the sunset.
