Yes, quite a gap in photo diary entries, thanks mostly to travel (I was at home for only 7 full days in the month of October). Time to start catching up…
Monday, September 29: Was feeling the autumn vibes and decided to put a deep red polish on my toes to replace the more summery pink that I’d been wearing.
Tuesday, September 30: Practiced some decorative rope work. I’m still finding this very relaxing … focusing on the patterns and the feel of the fiber in my hands quiets my brain, and knowing I’m going to undo it and any mistakes I make will disappear calms my anxiety about messing things up.
Wednesday, October 1: Signs of fall appearing along the road I walk to get the mail in the village.
Thursday, October 2: Flew to Denver for a conference. Ended up walking from my gate to baggage claim after landing instead of taking the underground train, which took me past an exhibit of clothing made from unconventional materials. This ensemble called Palisade & Prairie made primarily vinyl sheet flooring material especially caught my eye. More on the exhibit here: Prêt-À-Porter: Rocky Mountain Reverie.
Friday, October 3: Arrived early for checkin at the conference so had the lounge area outside under the tent to myself for a bit. I though I had a super sized couch in my studio, but this one puts mine to shame. It’s a much more interesting color than my light brown one, too.
Saturday, October 4: I’d read about these access stairs at the rental apartment in the reviews before I booked it. That did not fully prepare me for how steep and relatively narrow they were. I never got used to them during my stay, especially since the railing was too wide and flat to comfortably hold on to. I have no doubt they would have been easier to navigate if I were younger and less fat, but I am not. Feel fortunate I’m still in good enough shape to have gotten my big suitcase up there (in the dark in practically the middle of the night).
Sunday, October 5: I got back to the rental apartment after the last day of the conference (classes followed by closing remarks followed by a hangout in the space) and realized I hadn’t taken any pictures for this photo diary project. I snapped a selfie in my pajamas, relaxing on the couch. Looked at it, realized I’d basically captured a great view up my nose, decided I was too tired to do better, and turned the phone toward the tv alcove and captured that instead. It’s at least got some interesting angles in it.
