A Week in Photos: 2025, Part 26
July 11, 2025
Monday, June 23: It’s sweet corn season.
Tuesday, June 24: Spent some time poking around real estate sites, as Mr. Karen and I are starting to think more seriously about phase 2 of our retirement years. Our condo on the mountain has served us well as a base for skiing and hiking and other activities, but we never planned to be here forever. We likely won’t be at our next place forever, either, but definitely will be looking for a more senior-friendly layout than we have now, where there’s a whole flight of stairs to get up to the main level and another to get to the bedrooms, and basically a large sturdy ladder to get to the top level where we’ve setup an office.
Wednesday, June 25: Went down to the city for a discussion group (and after doing some stuff at my friend’s studio to help her get ready for an event the next day) and caught a pretty sunset as I left for home.
Thursday, June 26: Went to watch part of the sailboat races while I waiting for it to cool down enough in my studio space to be in there. Because it was a last minute decision, I hadn’t brought binoculars and thus had not idea which boat was Mr. Karen’s (though I could eliminate some of them because the sails weren’t the right shapes/colors or the boat was too big or had the wrong color stripe).
Friday, June 27: On the road again, heading to NW Washington to spend time with one of Mr. K’s sisters and her husband.
Saturday, June 28: We spent some time relaxing, some time exploring the city, and went to a few open houses just to see what’s out there as part of our “where should we move next” project. Best photo I took was of the daisies out front at Kathy’s house.
Sunday, June 29: More relaxing, more exploring, more open houses. An 1890 Victorian was fun to tour but not at all practical, even if it were in what I think is probably going to be our budget when we’re ready. I did really like the little desk area on the third (maybe second?) floor with a view of the bay. Sure, it probably is too hot or too cold a lot of the time in reality but not in my fantasy life.
