Day 1 of Unknown
December 5, 2019
Today, finally, almost a week after the mountain opened (and four days later than last year), I got my first day in for the 2019-2020 ski season. It was a bit warm (right around freezing), and foggy, and there’s not much terrain open yet, but it was still so so good to get back out there.
One of these years I’m going to prepare my body for the demands of skiing before I actually start doing it, but this was not that year. I haven’t had my boots on since I took them off for the last time in spring. I haven’t been on the ski trainer in I don’t know how long. And I certainly wasn’t on the ski trainer in my boots at any time in recent memory. So despite it being a very short day on nothing very challenging, my thighs and knees were feeling it. I’ll just have to ski myself into ski shape; I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again.
