Circling Back Around

January 3, 2011

SighMy goals for 2009 carried over to 2010 and because I still want to do those things, here they are again for 2011:

1. Weigh less and move more.
2. Keep less and organize more.
3. Surf less and contribute more.

I can’t say I did a bang up job on any of these in 2010 but that doesn’t mean I had a bad year overall. I’ll keep at it and perhaps this time next year I’ll have better news to report on the goal achievement front. There’s so much to be done, so much I want and have to do, that I get scattered and overwhelmed and turn to a Snickers bar and LOLcats to calm me down and cheer me up—and in the very short term, that works. I need to find other things that work that don’t sidetrack me so much. Aromatherapy? Self-administered mini massage? I’m not sure. For now, I’m back to my 4 x 400 plan: a 400 calorie meal every four hours. One of those “meals” today consisted entirely of Cheez Its and candy cane Hershey’s Kisses, so I could be off to a better start but at least I’m moving in sorta kinda the direction I want to be. Some days, sorta kinda is the best one can hope for.

*****

On this date in 2010: It’s Always Something, in which a clutch went out.

2009: Battle of the Suet Cake, in which I used twist ties to achieve victory.

2008: Resolved, in which I made some plans.

2007: No entry.

2006: Quilt To Do List, which is just that.

2005: Time to Get Up, in which I had a spiffy new alarm clock. I still use it, and bought a very similar one for the guest room a while back I like it so much.

2004: No entry.

2003: Hope in a Jar, in which I was doing a small part to live in The Artist’s Way.

Exactly, Karen! The best thing you can do is keep trying, keep plugging on no matter what. Some days are going to rock and some days are going to suck and some days will just be “meh”, but all we can do is try to make every day a little better, a little more special, a little more fun than the last one! Happy New Year, my friend, and I wish many wonderful things for you in 2011!
