New Beginnings

January 6, 2010

One year ago, I made three resolutions for 2009:
1. Weigh less and move more.
2. Keep less and organize more.
3. Surf less and contribute more.

Followers of my Flickr stream will already know that part one of resolution one was a fail. I was somewhat more successful at part two of resolution one, but nagging injuries and inherent laziness hampered me from doing all I hoped. I floundered on resolution two as well, making some tiny steps in the right direction but not enough of them to be able to look around and feel I really got anywhere. I did pretty well with resolution three and even took on some new responsibilities at Distributed Proofreaders that I hadn’t even considered when 2009 started; still, I know I can do better. Thus I am now declaring that last year’s resolutions are also this year’s resolutions.

I’m going to do something a bit different with them for 2010. Thanks to Holidailies (the current iteration of which is ending today—thanks Jette and Chip for all your work hosting it), I saw Lisa-Marie’s post about MizB’s New Beginnings project, wherein participants post every Wednesday about their New Year’s resolutions and, one hopes, get encouragement from the other people involved in the event. I know I won’t post every week, but I intend to do so as many weeks as I can. Wish me luck!
