Collecting

Colorful World Dryers

I have a collector’s mentality, a gift from my dad. I remember going with him on many a trip to the art supply store when I was young to get tubes of paint in colors he did not already have—he had a list of the ones he needed and we’d scan the shelves for them and purchase a few each time. I thought this was strange, because he did not use these tubes to make art, nor was I allowed to do so (there was other paint for me to play with), but now I find myself doing the same sort of thing. When I came across a khaki tan hand dryer in a restaurant bathroom last weekend, I felt a little thrill—another color to add to my collection of photos of non-white hand dryers. There’s no practical value to this collection, but it makes me happy to add to it, so I shall as long as my interest holds.

This is great. Don’t be surprised if I start emailing you pics from my iPhone. Does it count for your collection if the “find” wasn’t viewed in person with your own eyes?

Thank you! I think pictures of ones I haven’t seen in person would still count–though I might pester you to tell me where they were so I could keep them in mind for a future road trip. :-)
