I would love to write an intelligent post about the auto bailout, but the whole situation just makes my head hurt and my stomach churn and my blood boil to the point where I’m not sure if I want to cry or throw up or punch someone. Something I am sure of is that one of Purple Systems’ customers filed Chapter 11 today. The last time this happened, we accounting programmers joked about whether we should create a bankruptcy module, since it sure would be nice to just enter information in a few fields and click some buttons and have all the financial structure tables update automatically to accommodate the filing requirements. Now that doesn’t seem so farfetched an idea, except I can’t imagine who would pay for that development work. Maybe a consortium of southern Republican senators?

Yep, I don’t see why the auto industry doesn’t rate as highly as some seriously dodgy financial types.
