Monday, April 6: The view at the new house continues to delight. Here it’s the golden hour.
Tuesday, April 7: Bought some things for my office corner in the kitchen, including a wee garbage can with ears on the lid. Feels more like home now.
Wednesday, April 8: I was on stand by while Mr. Karen went into the scary crawlspace to check out an odd dripping noise (no water spotted, no conclusions reached).
Thursday, April 9: Today’s project was de-sticky-ing one of these wire shelf units. The white coating degrades over time and gets gummy and that feels yucky. The shelf is still perfectly functional, so I researched how to get the gunk off. I’m definitely not the first one to try … lots of suggestions, lots of frustration. The one suggestion that made sense to me based on dealing with sticky nail polish bottle caps (some brands are known for that) was using 91% rubbing alcohol and elbow grease. I worked well enough that I could touch the shelf after without thinking “eeew”.
Friday, April 10: Went to Kathy’s birthday party; all the nieces (grand and regular) and nephews were there, along with lots of Kathy’s friends, many of whom I’d heard about (and they’d heard about us).
Saturday, April 11: Had family over to see the house and barn and share a pizza dinner.
Sunday, April 12: Somehow when these kitchen cabinets were installed in 1999, this one door was put on with the inside face on the outside (that’s why it has that horizontal line) and no one noticed (or they noticed and decided it didn’t bother them). It can’t easily be fixed now, unfortunately, so I’m going to have to try to not see it every time I sit down at my desk.
