A Week in Photos: 2026, Part 2

A Week in Photos: 2026, Part 2
I decided to keep doing my photo diary project in 2026 because if nothing else, I like looking back at the entries sometimes.
Monday, January 5: The seller countered our offer and we countered their counter and then I went down to town and then Mr. Karen texted me that our offer was accepted and it seemed surreal.

Screenshot of a text message exchange. In grey bubble: Yikes! Our offer was accepted. Reply: three wow face emoji.

Tuesday, January 6: So busy doing I don’t quite know what that for my picture of the day I’ve got to use these lyrics I saved because they made me laugh.

Screenshot of joke lyrics: here come old laptop/he come/bootin' up slowly/he got/broken touchpad/he need/one more update/he got/no space/on this pc/one thing I can tell you/it's got no warranty.

Wednesday, January 7: Finally some snow on the mountain.

Thursday, January 8: Made my way down the snowy mountain to town and then on to the city to pick up my friend Angie for our drive to Vancouver BC for the conference we’re doing this weekend. The drive went smoothly and we got to our Vancouver-adjacent hotel in time to grab dinner at a nearby Korean restaurant. The room had a view of the city skyline in the distance.

Friday, January 9: Had a full day of classes and get togethers before trying a Korean version of Chicago-style pizza. This was quite unusual: a stuffed pizza with cream cheese mousse, string cheese, cheese (unspecified), sweet potato mousse, sour cream, roasted onion, mushrooms, diced sweet potatoes, cheddar cheese, ham, honey, sliced almond, parsley, and powdered sugar. Yep, powdered sugar. This was served with a side of sliced pickles … not quite dill, not quite bread and butter.

Saturday, January 10: Nice to be staying in the same hotel as the conference; easy to take breaks back in the room.

Day view out of a hotel room window with roads and transit and shops in the foreground and a city skyline in the distance on a cloudy day.

Sunday, January 11: Last day of the conference. Before classes started, got on the phone with Mr. Karen to discuss the offer we’d gotten on our condo the night before. Decided on a counteroffer. Tried not to freak out about the whole thing. Finished up classes and since t a lot of folks headed out right after, Angie and I were able to get into the tiny sushi place next to the hotel that had been just completely packed when we tried earlier in the con.

Sushi roll with tempura shrimp at the ends and avocado and red roe and mayonaisse on top.
