Happy Color Update: Mid-January 2026

January 15, 2026

It’s been a little over six weeks since my last Happy Color update, so time to do another even though the state of my in progress tab is nowhere near as organized as I’d like. That’s not surprising given how much has been going on with the house purchase process and the condo sale process and being gone last weekend (I wasn’t even able to color in the car like I do on road trips with Mr. Karen as my companion last weekend doesn’t like driving so I was behind the wheel which I’m happy to do on such a relatively short trip).

Groups I’ve finished since the previous update (most recent listed first; all counts include any friends I matched with the main images for the group, and date is when the holiday was, not necessarily when I finished coloring those images):

– Dailies for 4th week of December (8) [the mysteries and some of the dailies were in the Christmas group below)

– Orthodox Christmas (2) [January 7]

– Remaining daily and mystery for third week of December (6) [somehow overlooked them with all the holiday ones I was working on)

– New Year/Christmas (210) (some of the New Year images have decidedly Christmas feel; repurposed one 4th of july with fireworks to use with New Year, and took a few winter ones to pair with Christmas. I waited and waited to finish this group, as more images kept appearing, like a Christmas tree bonus that popped up on December 31st. Thought about waiting more in case the picture of the year turned out to be the December picture of the month; I did not, and it did not. Decided to treat the advent collections—this year’s and last year’s that I’d skipped—and last year’s Christmas story as individual pictures and pair them with whatever made sense, since I can see them in their collection/story order on those pages if I want to.)

– Kwanzaa (6)

– Daily and mystery for third week of December (10)

– Hanukkah (2)

– Winter solstice/winter woods (8)

– Bonuses: still lifes, treasure chests (4)

– Daily and mystery for second week of December (20)

– Winter/Christmas hot drinks and cookies (16)

– Day of Veterinarian Medicine (2) [December 9]

– Daily and mystery for first week of December (14)

– Pictures of week and month for November (12)

– Cookie Day (2) [December 4]

– Art for Thanksgiving (2)

Currently In Progress:

1.) Dailies/mysteries for last days of December/first days of January (16 images plus 8 separators) [Separators: lacy round mandalas, patterns with thin diamonds, distorted squares, wavy lined boxes]

2.) Winter images that need to get incorporated into the larger winter group (8 + 8) [Separators: line-intensive patterns, mostly making diamond-y shapes]

3.) Chinese New Year feat. fire horse (2 + 12) [Separators: diamonds, wavy lines, distorted grids, dots]

4.) Bonuses I pulled from the depths of that tab (8 + 2) [Separators: quilt-like or tile-like patterns]

5.) Winter (65 + 8) [Separators: wavy lines and braids]

6.) Winter Olympics sports (29 + 4) [Separators: looping lines]

7.) Holiday/seasonal: Rubber Duck Day, Venice Carnival, Women in Science Day, Valentine’s Day, Lantern Festival, Happy Birthday, St. Patrick’s Day, Spring, World Down Syndrome Day, World Water Day, Easter, Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, Fourth of July. (53 + 6) [Separators: tile-like patterns]

8.) All the rest of the separators (16) [staircases, finely detailed mandalas]

Should be in progress or even finished but are not:

– Rubber Duck Day [Jan 13 2026]

– Pictures of the week for January so far

– Picture of the year for 2025

– Dailies/mysteries for first full week of January

– Winter bonus images from the last several weeks
