A Week in Photos: 2025, Part 41

November 12, 2025

Monday, October 6: Flew home from Denver. I allowed plenty of extra time to get to the airport since I didn’t know how city traffic and the rain that was falling would impact the drive, so I ended up in the terminal early and found a spot to relax a bit on the level above the main walkway. I took some photos of the mosaics on the floor below as I appreciate when details like that are included in public spaces; the juxtaposition of the real people and the tile people pleases me in this shot.

An airport hallway floor with large tile mosaics of people viewed from above interspersed with plain squares. Real people are walking on the tile people.

Tuesday, October 7: Feeling a bit under the weather so did a COVID/Flu test. Had been a while, so I’d forgotten that C is for Control, not COVID.

White plastic home test with orange lettering on a slate blue background. Only C for control line is visible.

Wednesday, October 8: Woke up with a very swollen area on my gums near the tooth that had been bothering me for a few days, so off to the dentist I went to be told I had an infection and possibly some broken roots where I’d gotten a root canal years ago. Left with a prescription for antibiotic pills and special mouthwash and a referral to an endodontist.

My legs from mid-calf down clad in dark denim capris, ankle socks, and purple trainers, sitting in a dentist chair with instruments to my right.

Thursday, October 9: A segment of the main mountain road was closed; the detour was not out of my way, as it was re-routing everyone right past my condo. Fortunately not that much traffic this time of year.

Blacktop street with Detour and Road Closed signs blocking access and a flatbed trailer in one of the lanes beyond the signs.

Friday, October 10: State of the mountain, with the tamaracks just starting to turn a lighter green but far from the bright yellow they’ll be before long.

Ski resort in late fall, with some yellow trees showing among the pines between the cut ski runs.

Saturday, October 11: Went down to the city to hang out with friends and saw this colorful mess of wet leaves in the street where I parked.

Dense but flat pile of wet leaves on blacktop. Most are dull brown but there are spots of red yellow and green.

Sunday, October 12: Enjoyed watching the first serious snow of the season pile up before I left to stay in a hotel near the airport in the city so I’d be well positioned for an early flight the next morning.

Looking out over a snow covered balcony railing at snow covered trees. On the left, yellow leaves, on the right pines.
