Monday, August 11: Time to re-blue my hair. Did silver mixed with dark blue and a touch of shade diluter. All are products I brought on clearance, so if it turns out to be the perfect color, I’m out of luck re-creating it, but that’s okay. All the blues seem to fade to the same shade on me anyway.
Tuesday, August 12: This moth was resting by my car when I went out to leave for the city. I was careful to not back over it when I pulled out.
Wednesday, August 13: We’ve been pretty fortunate this wildfire season, with winds keeping the smoke mostly off the mountain despite two fires burning within about 50 miles of us. On this particular day, the mountains across the valley were obscured by the smoke there.
Thursday, August 14: Left Spokane for a trip to the Detroit area for a conference. Connected in Salt Lake City and had enough time there to have a meal and wander a bit. Got into Detroit around midnight and stayed in a hotel near the airport so I could get to sleep earlier, but my body didn’t cooperate with that plan.
Friday, August 15: Woke up after too little sleep and was surprised to see greenery, a pond, and a seemingly abandoned satellite dish out back of the hotel despite being right next to a major airport. Checked out at the last minute possible then had a quick lunch at an old favorite place from my time living in the area before picking up some snacks and supplies and checking into the con hotel about an hour before the opening reception.
Saturday, August 16: Fancy light fixture in one of the breakout session spaces in the con hotel.
Sunday, August 17: A full day of sessions then closing ceremony for the con, then headed to Kura conveyor belt sushi with a friend. The Mr. Fresh containers at this one had been updated to have a push button to release the cover rather than having to lift up the plate.
