Monday, June 2: Helped Mr. Karen put the sailboat in the water. I mostly sat in a lawn chair and read him steps from the checklist he wrote until he needed my assistance with one of them (primarily when we got to the raising the mast part, and also the making sure the boat didn’t float away while he was parking the now empty trailer part). We use a boat ramp at the public beach in town for this, which meant I had time for people watching. The youth seem to be very into a game where a ball is thrown into a small round trampoline net on the ground by players in turn (I looked it up later and it’s called Spikeball or roundnet); at one point there were three games of it going on simultaneously on the lawn.
Tuesday, June 3: After the big launch day, spent this one at home puttering around, which doesn’t make for compelling photos, so this snap of the new piece of art we got on our cruise earlier this year will have to do.
Wednesday, June 4: Summer means the wedge flip flops come out of storage. Some years back, I came across this style that came in wide width (which is what I really need but often can’t find) and bought it in three colors: red, black, and white. I’ve worn them a lot, mostly the black ones but sometimes the red or the white get the call when I want a pop of bright.
Thursday, June 5: Went and had dinner with my friends who live next to the water; stopping at this pullout to take a picture seems to be becoming a tradition for me on the drive there (or in this case, back).
Friday, June 6: Had a visitor in the backyard.
Saturday, June 7: Went down to the city to help my friend set some things up in her new studio space. My trip home took me past the highway bridge to nowhere. I do appreciate that the pillars have decorative elements on them instead of just being plain concrete
Sunday, June 8: With this year’s huckleberry picking season getting close, I’m in the mode of using the remaining berries in the freezer with abandon (well, almost), so I made a sauce for French toast on this day.
