April is the New February

April 29, 2011

I didn’t plan for April to match the low entry record I set in February, but it just turned out that way. I haven’t been doing much lately except working, creating content for my nail blog (which just turned one year old this week), and going to the dentist. (I’ve had two more visits since the root canal and have one more scheduled to get the temporary crown replaced with the real thing. This last appointment, to get the tooth prepared for the crown, was the worst of the lot, in large part due to the super strong suction, which literally pulled my nostrils shut when the dental assistant put the wand in my mouth and had me close my lips around it. I swear I had bruises on my tongue when I left; I definitely still have a sore at the corner of my mouth from where the skin got scraped up by something they were doing.) I’ve been just scraping by with my weekly Flickr projects, have no knitting in process, and haven’t had my sewing machine out of its case in months. I stopped wearing my Pikachu pedometer and he retreated back into his Pokeball. I turn 50 next year and have been pondering making a “50 by 50” list, but I just can’t work up the enthusiasm needed to start on the list itself, much less doing anything I might put on it. Maybe it’s perimenopause causing my more frequent bouts of malaise this last year or two. Maybe it’s too much reading about perimenopause, though probably not, since I’ve barely been reading much at all. The weather’s been mostly crappy, too. In the last week or so, though, things have been looking up. It was pleasant enough last weekend that I walked outside two days in a row. I’ve spent a few hours in the evenings cutting pieces for the much-delayed tv cover quilt and arranging them on my felt wall; I might even start sewing on that this weekend. One seam will lead to another and another and before I know it, I’ll be back on track. I hope.
