In No Particular Order

May 14, 2007

This past weekend I did many things, none of which I feel like writing about for more than a sentence or two or three.

I did five loads of laundry: whites, lights, brights, darks, towels, and sheets. I folded and put away zero loads.

I jogged/walked for just over three miles on Saturday and walked for just under three miles on Sunday. My ITB seems to be a little better; I think I’ll be fine for the 5K next Sunday, though I don’t expect another personal best.

I wore my new lilac boots to dinner with Rooey (and Dave) and Adrienna (and Aaron) (and not Mr. Karen, because he was gone kayaking). I admit that these boots are not the most practical footwear I’ve ever purchased, but at least I’ve got room in my closet for them since I got rid of the Bass pair. I didn’t pay full price (thank you, Sierra Trading Post), and they make me smile.

I tried to get a specific book from the library but could not find it on the shelf it was supposed to be on. The librarian couldn’t locate it either; I was hoping she’d be able to work some special librarian mojo but no.

I watched the little yellow bird I’ve never seen in our yard before (a goldfinch, I believe) and took several crappy photos of him.

I went to the farmers market and got baked goods. The lady selling the muffins asked if I was a mother, and when I said no, she said when I became one I could come back for a free muffin. Okay, I’ll get right on that.

I took lots of pain medication to try and convince my headache to go away; that didn’t work very well but going to bed early on Saturday night pretty much did the trick. The backache has proven harder to shake.

I went to the zoo, where I ate the ice cream of the future and watched the capybaras for a long time, then went to visit the prairie dogs and the polar bears and seals (the blind one was in her usual spot by the water jet) and the snow monkeys (who were almost all down in the dry moat eating dinner, not climbing around where I could see them; I want to go back and look at some old pictures because there were some rungs attached to the big faux rock that I don’t remember being there before).

I put Crest Whitestrips on my teeth twice a day, the 8th and 9th of the 10-day program. I guess they’re making some difference; I think my teeth look less yellow here on Saturday than here in January.

I loaded and ran the dishwasher. I filled a bag of paper for recycling. I read two different books but finished neither. I watched some tv. I knitted a bit. I played with fabric. I didn’t get as much done as I wanted to. I never do.
