What I did this weekend (abridged version):
1. Laundry, literally. Lots and lots of it, as the things that were waiting to be washed before we left for Florida did not get clean while we were away and we continued to get clothes dirty the whole time we were gone. Where are the house elves when you need them?
2. Went with Mr. Karen to see the Disneyland exhibit at The Henry Ford on Saturday. It was a little disappointing. Perhaps we’ve watched too many documentaries and read too many articles and books and seen too many other exhibits about Disney, but there wasn’t much here that really surprised or delighted me. I did like the color cards showing the hues chosen for different attractions and the old menus, but things like the Mr. Toad car didn’t interest me at all, especially since no photos were allowed (nor were they taking any for sale, even).
3. After the exhibit, had to choose between Buddy’s and Pizza Papalis, my two favorite pizzas in all the world, now located only steps away from each other in Dearborn. I went with Buddy’s, since I’d had Pizza Papalis at the airport before we left for Orlando, but it was a difficult decision.
4. On Sunday, volunteered at a quilt show for the first time. This was a little show in Northville that I got involved in so my poor rejected mushroom quilt could finally be seen by people outside my living room. The first part of my shift was really quiet, and at first I wished I’d brought a book (or even my knitting, but the scarf is getting long enough now that it’s a bit unwieldy) but then I discovered a rack with magazines on it, so I spent the downtime looking at things I wouldn’t normally see. I particularly liked this quote I came across in Art Review:

5. Between the end of my volunteer shift and having to go back to pick up my quilt at the end of the show, visited Jen, who very generously let me appropriate some of the quilting books and fabric she’s weeding from her stash. (No, I don’t really need to add to *my* stash, that is true, but surely it’s better for these things to come home with me than to have to get shipped to some stranger from eBay, right? Right?)
6. Finally got serious about my JournalCon swag. Not only did I choose a design and colors and fabrics, I printed the logos and cut the pieces for the fronts. Stay tuned to see if I can actually finish them before I get on the plane.
7. Decided I needed to freshen up the header of this journal and made a new image bar instead of doing things like putting away the laundry.
